Happy Birthday, Donnie!! 12-14

Christmas Events 2009

The Women's and Men's Xmas Events Committees have collaborated to bring a joyous Christmas celebration next weekend thanks to the Freeman family's generosity of letting us use their Fellowship Hall. All players need to be on time and ready to perform, starting Saturday morning. Shifts have been organized for the fun and fellowship and the plate will be passed for the crown pork, the golf bets, Pasadena, and the Left-Right-Center. Everyone needs to bring their own libations for communion.

Nursery provided by the 4 Bad Ants
Music provided by Edge
Youth Group activities coordinated by Cousins
PRAYER GROUP STILL NEEDED....

***We've been informed that the sermon will not begin until the Prodigal Son arrives Sat. evening. He also predicts that he can make Santa's sleigh appear across the sky?

**Remember, there is limited room at the Inn for Sat. night.

Gobble, Gobble, Thanksgiving is right around the corner! This is a wonderful time for us to gather together to be thankful for everything and remember the pilgrims who wore funny hats and uncomfortable shoes and shared their food with the Indians. To celebrate this great holiday, we will eat as much food as we can, partake of beverages and watch football. Sounds like the perfect day to me!

Here is the plan so far:

Congratulations to Sue

Our ownSue Ellen Shaw has just been elected "Library Chair of Excellence", a process that included interviews, references, and resumes of all the librarians in Ft Worth. We all knew that Sue has certainly impacted all of OUR lives when it comes to reading and literature, but this well-deserved acknowledgement clearly shows that she has greatly impacted appreciative librarians, countless students, and the school system of Fort Worth. Thanks for sharing with ALL of us Sue!!!

Football game at New Cowboy Stadium

I need to know if anyone besides Mom and Dad want to attend the CHHS Panthers playing Irving MacArthur at the new Cowboy Stadium on Monday, Sept. 7 at 1:00. I need to get tickets and I need to get them this week. Please call me and leave a message by Thursday. I'll be out of town Friday and Saturday.

Ya'll are welcome to come to any game, any time. When we're home, Al is in the pressbox calling the game, so it's fun to sit up there with him or down on the field. Just let me know which home game. They are October 2 (Homecoming vs. Northwest), Oct 9 vs. Trinity, October 23 vs. Central Keller and Nov 6 vs. GHS. Just let us know!!

Have a great start to school for those of you starting again!
Sorry I can't make it, EJ. I'll be in Midland at a football game. I know you'll have a great day, though! Enjoy!

Greetings From Cyberspace Grandma!

You never expected this blog from your cyberspace Grandma! These cyberspace old folks are really enjoying the cool weather in Winter Park with Sue Ellen and Jim. We will be sorry to see them leave Sat. morning. We are both 'breathless' yet... hope it's better by next week. That's enough for my first blog on "The Table".

Cousins Dinner

Last night EJ, Jason, and I headed to EJ's dinner recommendation: Fuji!!

It is a Habachi grill type place. We had a blast, even when the waiter startled me repeatedly with loud noises and tried to light our eyebrows on fire.
Really...it was a fun time!

Want to join in on the cousin fun?
Join us on 8/14 at Fernando's!! We will be adding Laura to the cousin mix.

Be there or be []!!

Argh...moving on Saturday!

Just a quick update on the Evan John clan. It looks like we are moving this saturday, 8/8. I'm trying to remember why rational people, under no duress, would choose to do this to themselves. But, alas, it is going to have to happen. New address will be 12108 Drujon (isn't that crazy). Donna, I am so sorry that we were not around for the grape picking...you are so fast there is hardly time to get there before you have them all done! Donny, thanks so much for the stained glass...it looks great.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JIM AND CONNOR! Becky, it sounds like Florida was great. I'm so glad you had fun. Emily, the only thing we didn't do in D.C. was Mt. Vernon. Now I will have to go back.

This is my first blog experience. I feel very high-tech. Just don't expect to see any pictures...I dont' know how to put them on the computer yet.

Florida recap

Rough day in Destin, Florida for the Prentice girls! Al and I had a great time in Destin with Ninha, Ashley, Kristy and their kids. Here's Kristy with Ava, me, Ninha with Kate, Ashley and Anna. I'm sure Poppa had the boys somewhere in the surf!
Someday, it would be great for all of us to go! What a beautiful beach!
Celebrating Connor's birthday tonight! Hard to believe he's 22. Just talked with Taylor and all is well. She will finish rafting on the Arkansas mid to late August then travel with friends to the Gauley (sp?) River in West Virginia. She'll be employed there until the first of October. She'll then travel cross country to take her Wilderness Emergency Medical Technician (WEMT) in Yosemite, California for six weeks. She'll live in Yosemite until the class is over mid November then plans to use her certification to serve as a search and rescue WEMT in the Four Corners area (Durango is the choice). She and three other friends will find a place there to settle down for a while, we hope!

Happy Birthday, Connor!!

harvest time

okay - I jumped the gun in my assessment in the last e-mail, I think. Marnelle at KE just came by to look at the grapes and advised us to pick the Zinfandel now. The rains have stressed the grapes causing them to start bursting, and thus, start spoiling "botritis" -( that earthy smell relished in European reds, but not so much here in the US) Anyway, we will be picking the Zin only on Wednesday. That makes me think, though, that with more rain in the forecast this week, the others may experience the same difficulty and that perhaps this weekend they, too, will be ready to pick! The BRIX level today is only at 16-17 unfortunately. I will also probably pick the Cab early as the birds are gaining too much weight in juices! So you might get ready for harvesting the syrah and sangiovese this weekend and I'll let you know more after Wednesday.

Hello from D.C. & The Cassady's

Hi, guys!
Jason was traveling with work this week, so I went with him to D.C.
This place has changed so much since the last time I visited.
We did a whirlwind tour of the Smithsonian's (Air & Space, Natural History, and American History). We viewed the monuments.
The best thing we saw, however, was Mt. Vernon, home of George and Martha Washington.
The whole trip was a blast for a weekend away!

Hello from FL!!! This is such a fun way for us to keep up with our beloved in TX! Wanted to mention that I will actually be in Dallas Friday night August 14th, NOT Sat! My flight leaves out Sat night right after my conference....so I hope I still get to see some of you Friday night, but if not....soon enough! Eric and I are counting down until Christmas with you all this year! 21 1/2 weeks till Griffiths family Christmas!!! :) Love you all! Laura and Eric

Save the dates

I looked at my calendar and I'm on board with the 15th. I'll check with Connor to see if he can join us. Unfortunately, I won't be able to be at the Sept. 12 celebration at Keipersol. We had to move our Friday night game to Saturday night. I will make sure I make it to Sunday's celebration at the church, though. Sorry about that.

Sad I couldn't make it to Sue's celebration lunch yesterday. The mediation lasted until 8 pm. Ugh. Sounds like the new house is awesome. Can't wait to see it!

We had a great time in Florida! The grandkids all loved the beach even though the schedules for naps were often interrupted. I think everyone took at least one nap on the beach--including Pappa and B! Weather was great and the beaches were beautiful. Hard to come back to reality.

Thanks for the blog, Sue. It will be a great way to keep up with everyone!
Becky

Mom and Dad's anniversary ideas

Thanks for organizing the lunch yesterday for Sue. It was good to visit everyone again, see the new house which is absolutely gorgeous, and talk about upcoming agendas. Mom and Dad would rather post an invitation of sorts on the church bulletin a couple of Sundays prior to the "tea" and send invitations out to those not in church so as not to offend anyone. They would encourage those they really want to come and we can guess on the others. I'll check with Marnelle this week on locale, etc. Rained really hard last night, so I'm checking on the grapes!
Will inform all about status as the week progresses.
Good job Sue! Also, everyone put down the date of August 15th at 6:00pm for dinner at Fernando's - it is on Northwest Hwy and Midway - Laura will be there and we will also be celebrating Donna's birthday, Jim's birthday and Connor's birthday. See you there! XOXOXLibby
